Life Cycle: summer annual
General Description: A summer annual with compound leaflets.
Seedlings: Ligule membranous, ciliate or surrounded with a ring of hairs, auricles absent.
True Leaves and Stem: Shoot folded, leaf sheath flattened. Leaf blade 2-5 times longer than wide, leaf more or less hairy. Ligule membranous, ciliate or surrounded with a ring of hairs, auricles absent. Height: 30-80 cm. Plant tufted, glabrous. Stem erect with green leaves, about 5-10 mm broad. Leaf sheath hairy, very strongly flattened.
Roots: Fiberous
Flower and Fruit: Spike-like panicle, 5-10 cm long, cylindric,interrupted at base and pseudo-whorled, green. Hooked bristles with reflexed teeth.
