Other Names: star cucumber
Life Cycle: summer annual
General Description: A vine with branchign stems and tendrils. Fruits resemble small cucumbers.
Seedlings: Hypocotyls are covered with short hairs. Cotyledons are thick and rounded with dense hairs on both surfaces.
True Leaves and Stem: Leaves are alternate, hairy, and rounded to heart shape. Leaves have 3-5 angled lobes and toothed margins. Stems are hairy and seem prickly.
Roots: Fibrous roots
Flower and Fruit: Flowers are a yellowish-green and have five petals. Fruit is oval, pointed at the apex, and about 2cm long. Long, stiff bristles and short hairs cover the fruit which is found in clusters of 3-20.
