Scientific Name: Cichorium intybus L.
Other Names: blue daisy, bunk, coffee weed
Life Cycle: perennial
General Description: A perennial with dandelion-like leaves forming a rosette.
Seedlings: Cotyledons are oblong along with young leaves. Leaf margin maybe wavy or toothed. Leaves form basal rosette early in season.
True Leaves and Stem: Leaves are lanceolate, alternate, and have coarsely toothed margins similar to that of dandelion. Flowering stems are erect, smooth, and hollow. Leaves on stems are very narrow and clasp around stem.
Roots: taproot
Flower and Fruit: Blue flowers (may also be pink, purple or white) are found in clusters of one to three at the top of the stems. Flowers are rays, and seeds are enclosed in the achene.
